Align Images

Image alignment or registration is a process of image feature detection and matching common tie points to create a sparse point cloud. During this process, the camera positions, orientations, and internal camera parameters are calculated for every image. Once images are aligned, you will be able to see them in a 3Ds view.

To change a view type, CLICK and hold the aspect button in the upper right corner of every view and DRAG your cursor to the view type you want to use.

There are not enough inputs in this project. Please return to the previous step and add some more inputs.

Running alignment is easy, and here is how to do it:

  • Click the Align Images button located in the Registration part of the ALIGNMENT tab.
  • Alternatively, use the F6 shortcut on your keyboard.

Depending on the number of images, it will take a few seconds to several minutes. It should take only a couple of minutes to align a hundred images taken by a 20-megapixel camera.
